MY ACNE & BLOATING STORY!

Over the last about 3 years I’ve struggled with acne and bloating and could never really figure out why. It came in spirts. I wasn’t always bloated and I didn’t always have acne. Sometime I felt amazing and my skin was glowing and no acne, but other times it was almost like a rash or a burst of inflammation. Sometimes I looked super skinny, with a flat tummy and other times I looked 5 months pregnant with bloating. I called it having a “flare up”, because when it came it came all at once. After seeing numerous dermatologists and OBGYNs I figured out that my body is holding way too much bad BACTERIA resulting in bloating and acne. Here’s some things to know…

  • Our bodies hold good and bad bacteria. When the bad bacteria compromises your stomach/gut you can have an overgrowth and a take over of bad bacteria.

  • When our bodies have too much bad bacteria, they get inflamed. This causes a whole lot of issues; acne and bloating being two of them.

  • When your body has too much bacteria it can come out in numerous different ways; rashes, acne, bloating, yeast infections, headaches, etc. This happens because our bodies are trying to rid themselves of the bad bacteria, but they don’t know how.

  • Another thing to note is our hormones play a big role in bloating and acne. As women our bodies PH levels are always changing, this messes with our hormones. Take into account; your age, your sexual activity, your menstrual cycle, your diet, your sleeping schedule, and your stress level.

  • There are ways to help your body stay balanced with good hormones and bacteria.

  • I finally figured out some things that work for me and my body. Yes, I still have occasional flare ups due to my sleep, diet, and stress level, but I can mitigate my flare ups when I stay consistent and use my tips below.

6 Things That Help Me Keep My Bacteria & Hormones In Check

  1. Probiotics

    • As I explained above, it’s normal for our bodies to produce good and bad bacteria. But we want our good bacteria to out weigh our bad bacteria. A probiotic helps provide our bodies with good bacteria. I take a probiotic every single day, they are also extra important to take while on any kind of antibiotic. Antibiotics kill off all bacteria (good and bad) and the virus in our bodies; so we need to replenish our bodies by taking a probiotic.

  2. Water

    • Sounds silly, and easy and redundant. I’m sure you’ve been told 100 times to drink water. But let’s really think about why. Water is what rids toxins from our body naturally. Think of it as flushing out our systems. We cannot cleanse our bodies of toxins and bacteria if we are not constantly flushing it out. I always notice a difference in my skin when I drink 60oz + of water a day. My secret lately to staying on top of my water intake is to chug a bottle right when I wake up, and right before I start to get ready for bed, that right there is about 32 oz, more than half of my daily goal. Then all I have to do throughout the day is sip on water.

  3. Coconut Oil

    • This is the best thing ever. Not only is it super cool because you can use it on your hair and body, cook with it, and eat it, but because it KILLS bacteria. I try to always cook with it when I need a base, but honestly I just toss an entire spoonful of it in my coffee every. I don’t even taste it in my coffee! If you’re not a coffee drinker you put it in your tea or you can can take a shot of it warmed in the microwave, it doesn’t taste awesome or ideal that way, but it gets the job done.

  4. Apple Cider Vinegar

    • There are two ways to do this.

      • You can take an actual shot of ACV or you can buy the BRAGG Organic Apple Cider Vinegar All Natural Drink (they have tons of different flavors ). Both work, here’s why I like them for different reasons. The shot of ACV is intense and legit and boy does it work, but it’s also nasty, burns your throat, or can hurt your tummy if you haven’t eaten. In bad “flare up” situations I take my ACV this way. But my new way I’m loving is these drinks. I take a couple of sips of it throughout the day. By doing so, one bottle lasts me all week. It’s not as strong so it doesn’t hurt my throat or tummy, and I still feel like it does the trick.

  5. Organic MACA Powder

    • This helps balance out your hormones. Due to the amount of environmental estrogen, most peoples hormones are all crazy. Maca actually stimulates and nourishes the hypothalamus and pituitary glands which are the “master glands” of the body. AKA why this helps clear your acne if it’s caused by your hormones. I toss a spoonful of this in my coffee in the mornings, and I think it tastes really good. A girlfriend of mine mentioned she takes the pill form, and loves it.

  6. Bone Broth

    • Before I explain, don’t be grossed out by the name. It honestly tastes like the broth of chicken noodle soup. So bone broth is basically magic haha! I recently found out the collagen in bone broth contains 18 of the 20 amino acids our bodies needs to fight off intruders a.k.a bacteria and toxins. The glucosamine in bone broth can actually stimulate the growth of new collagen, repair damaged joints, and rid inflammation in our bodies. PLUS it supports hair growth and nail strength. How do I consume it? I ether make a chicken or beef and veggies bone broth soup, or I honestly just heat up a serving in a bowl and drink it like a tea. If I’m trying to be super lean that day and be super healthy I do it as a meal replacement, but if you’re hungry never skip a meal, just add this as a side of soup for the health benefits.
