My Self Tan Routine

DO YOU WANT THAT PERFECT SUN KISSED GLOW? Here it is…

Ya’ll this has been my most highly requested blog post, and the one thing I get DM’d about constantly. Rightfully so, I mean, what gal doesn't want that natural and beautiful tan year round.

MY NATURAL TAN GROWING UP:

  • I have been naturally olive complected my entire life.. I get it from my mama.. Not tan or dark, but just an olive undertone. I grew up in Minnesota and Arizona swimming , planning tennis, soccer, etc. year round so I was always tan.

TANNING BEDS:

  • In high school I would use tanning beds every once in a while before homecoming or prom. My parents didn’t encourage it, but they understood and we didn’t really know of another option. In all honesty, I don’t remember it being such a bad thing back then. No one was really talking about the dangers of it, and I don’t remember self tanner being a thing as much. I don’t recommend using a tanning bed now (just my opinion).

FIRST SPRAY TAN EXPERIENCE:

  • By senior year of high school I found spray tans in a bottle from Walgreens and switched over to using those before fun events and such. It worked miracles for me. So basically, i’ve been spray tanning myself since 2010. WOW 8 years! Once my friends saw what I was doing, everyone wanted one. I remember spray tanning 4 or 5 of my close friends before prom, and the bottles were way cheaper than going somewhere and getting a professional spray tan. Not to mention the risk of being ORANGE lol.

MY SECRET:

  • In about 2014 I found St. Tropez and have NEVER gone back to anything else. I absolutely LOVE this brand. It’s one of the only things I’ve found that DOES NOT smell, streak, look orange, etc. I’m not kidding when I say I get stopped in my everyday life AT LEAST once a week with people asking me where I got my tan, or what products I use. It’s that good!!!

THE PRODUCTS I USE:

MY ROUTINE:

  • 1.) Shave entire body in the morning

  • 2.) Exfoliate entire body

  • 3.) Put on lotion go about your day, etc.

  • 4.) 1 hour before bed, shower again (rinse off)

  • 5.) Dry yourself off after you shower, NO lotion

  • 6.) Grab your mousse and mitt and apply the self tanner

    • 2 pumps for the lower half of my legs (knee down)

    • 2 pumps for upper half of my leg/ booty

    • 2 pumps for my whole stomach

    • 2 pumps for each arm

    • 2 pumps for my back

    • 2 pumps for my chest, neck, ears haha

    • I do long strokes when I apply, and keep rubbing it in until it’s even all over.

      • Example: I start at my toes and stroke all the way up to my knee, then continue the process…

      • Example: I start at my finger tips and work my way up to my shoulder, then continue the process…

  • 7.) I then walk around my bedroom naked for about 5-10 minutes until I feel dry (no longer sticky)

  • 8.) Next, throw on lose, ugly, old sweatpants and t- shirt and GO TO BED

  • 9.) Wake up in the morning and rinse off. I use a tiny bit of body wash and pat myself dry with a towel

    • If you’re doing this in the middle of there day, all you need is 4-8 hours for it to develop, the longer you wait the darker it will get/ the longer it will last.

  • 10.) ALL DONE

  • 11.) Repeat when needed. I do my spray tans every 3-4 days. I do so, because i’m a runner and sweat like crazy so my tan comes off quicker.

OTHER SELF TANNER PRODUCTS I LOVE:

  • Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs- I’m obsessed with this product. Why? I often have bruises or scars on my legs I want to cover for that airbrushed look for a fancy event or cocktail event, I will throw this on over top of my other spray tan.

  • STEPS:

    • 1.) Put on your end game outfit

    • 2.) Grab the same mitt

    • 3.) Spray product directly on your desired body part

    • 4.) Rub in with the mitt

    • 5.) ALL DONE, your ready to go (this product is instant)
