My Current Acne Routine

ACNE!!!! Ughhh that dreaded four letter word no one likes! I used to be ashamed of my skin when I was having a "flare up", and now it's one of the big things I want to talk about with you guys! Almost all of the products down below are linked for you to purchase if you want to try them. I made sure too spend time finding each product and writing a bit of info about why I like it and what it does. =)

When my acne would flare up, I didn't want to leave the house, didn't want to see anyone or do anything. I just wanted it to go away so I could be my confident self. Is my skin terrible? NO. Is my skin perfect? No. BUT I have learned what does and does NOT work form we personally.  I did everything; acne cream, spot treatment, birth control, medication, face masks, facials. I've tried it ALL. Everything works differently for different people, DUH but talking with other girls I hear lots of common themes. There are 2 big ones; DIET & HORMONES. I have found a solution that is working for me and I want to share it with all of you! Give it a try and maybe it will help your  acne or even your simple blemishes.

MY CURRENT ACNE ROUTINE:

Morning
Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

  • I use this to wash my face in the morning. Nothing too intense, but it gets rid of dirt build up, helps get off my zit cream, and gets my skin ready for the day.

Floajen Probiotic

  • This is a women's probiotic. I take this every morning. It helps rid my body of toxins, cleans out my gut health and flushes and bacteria, while providing good bacteria.

Oregano Oil

  • Helps gut health, inflammation in the body, and has antioxidants good for your skin

- Spironolactone 100mg Tabs (see doctor to buy)

  • My dermatologist recommended this. I started 2 weeks ago and have noticed a difference already. This is a hormone balancing pill. Helps fight hormonal acne, which is super common for girls.

Night
Simple Makeup Removal Wipes

  • In my opinion these are one of the best makeup remover wipes on the market. They are clean and natural and they don't make my skin red or puffy or anything. They "simply" take off my makeup (see what I did there with the name hehe)

- Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

  • I use this to get off any excess makeup that my wipes didn't get off. It also deep cleans my skin, way better than a wipe can. I've used this wash for years and like it because it doesn't smell or seem to be too harsh, and it doesn't burn my eyes

Clear Pore Neutrogena Oil-Eliminating Astringent

  • I use this as a toner. It helps treat breakouts without making my skin too dry. It's crazy how much dirt or makeup I find on the cotton ball even after using the wipe and face wash. EW. Basically, it picks up whatever I miss.

- Veltin Clindamycin Phosphate and Trentinoin Gel Z (see doctor to buy)

  • My dermatologist put me on this. I use one small pea size amount all over my face. It helps kill any bacteria living in your skin and pours. My acne is often caused by a bacteria inside my body so this helps kill it before it turns into a blemish.

SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0

  • This is pretty strong. I use a high dose of this a level 1.0 but ONLY every other night and a pea size. I've used it for years and have tough skin so small levels of it don't work on me. If you've never used a Retinol, I recommend a 0.05 NOT 1.0. But do your research and talk to your doctor or DM me on Instagram for more help.

IS Clinical Activer Serum

  • This has so so many benefits. But I mainly use it because it helps with hyper-pigmentation and acne. But hey it also helps with wrinkles and fine lines and smooths your skin.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

  • This product is my life. If you haven't tried it YOU NEED TO. It's a spot treatment while you sleep. It legit zaps that bad boy and it's almost always better by the morning. I'ver used this for at least 8 years or more... ahhh

FOOD/WATER:
- I have tried every food diet there is to help with my acne; paleo, gluten free, no sugar, no alcohol, and HONESTLY I DO see a huge difference. For some people foods don't harm their skin, but for me and many others I know, it does. I try to be pretty good 70-80 percent of the time, yes I cheat, but I try not to. One of the reasons I get "flare ups" is because my body can't fight the bad bacteria inside my gut or stomach. Bad bacteria can be caused by gluten, dairy, and alcohol. Think about it... gluten is bread and pasta and cookies and sugary items, these things can't be broken down as easily in our bodies or flushed. Alcohol is basically toxic to our body. Dairy is known to have hormones in it that impact our skin. As women we have enough hormones, we don't need more.

- Here's what I do.

  • Dairy free (I have eggs, and almond milk)

  • Gluten free (Whole Foods & Trader Joes have great options)

  • Alcohol Free (drink some sparkling water with a lime and no-one will know)

  • 50-80 oz of water (This is something I NEVER did. I hated water, but this is what flushes our bodies of everything bad. It pushed out the bad foods, toxins, bacteria, etc.)
