Building Confidence

Lets chat about a super important topic... CONFIDENCE! One of my favorite sayings is “act confident and no one will question you.” Friends, I want to give y’all some tips that have helped me with my confidence, because there’s times when it’s not always easy! Building my confidence has taken years. There's been high and lows and times I was more confident than others. It's sort of like a muscle, to keep it tone you have to work it every single day.

Here’s 3 big things that have helped me over the years!!!

✔️ Think positive thoughts, feed yourself what you want to believe.

  • Kill any negative thoughts that enter your mind about yourself.

  • Often times I look in the mirror and say to myself, “I am beautiful. I am smart. I am capable.”

  • Or if I'm going to an event where I don't know anyone I say, "I'm awesome, they are going to love me."

  • If I'm on a run and I feel like giving up I say, "You are strong, mind over matter, you are a boss."

✔️ Be prepared; this relates to physical appearance, mental preparation, and so on. You can prepare a little or a lot for any life situation; a speech, a party, a gathering,  a meeting, an event, a dinner, a sporting event. You name it, or live it, you can prepare for it. Here's some examples broken down.

  • Professional Basketball Game? To be more confident I would know my stuff haha. Learn if "our" team won the last game or not, know their record, who they are playing, know a little about basketball. Oh and If you don't know what to wear... PREPARE, ask friends what they are wearing, or google what others wear. You can seriously prepare for anything.

  • Nervous for a first date? Look over the menu before so you're not frantic ordering, check him/her out on Facebook so you know their hobbies and can think of flowing conversation, wear your most confident outfit that you feel good about yourself in, etc.

  • Bridesmaid Wedding Speech? Write your speech well in advance, give yourself time to change it, watch YouTube videos and see what others did that you liked or didn't like, read it in the mirror, read it to your family, etc.

The better prepared you are, the more confident you can be in any situation!

✔️ Work on yourself; if you look good, you feel good.

  • Eat healthy

  • Workout

  • Take the time to get ready, so you feel beautiful

  • Plan your outfit ahead of time

  • Spend quite time with yourself and understand your emotional state

  • Go to church (if you are religious) and spend time talking to God

When I personally know I’ve done everything I could to be my best self, I stand a little taller, smile a little bigger, and carry myself the way I want to. Remember we all have insecurities, but you're in control of your own confidence!! Own your truth!
